Lost Dogs and Other Pets
If your pet goes missing in Bass Coast Shire, contact
Council on (03) 5671 2211 or
(03) 5951 3311 to check if it has been found and
placed in the pound.
Animals in Council's pound can only be collected by visiting Council's Wonthaggi office at 76 McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi.
After fees are paid, a local laws officer will give directions to the pound where the animal will be released to the owner.
Dogs and cats 3 months and older must be registered with Council. Registering your pet ensures that if your pet gets lost it can be identified and returned.
To find out more information about registering your pet in Bass Coast and download the "Register Your Pet" form,

. Complete the form, and either take it to a Customer Service Centre or post
it to Council with your payment. Once payment is received, a registration tag
will be issued.
